After 22 years, D’Amico & Sons is closing its location on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, deciding not to renew the lease. The restaurant company’s other six Minnesota locations, plus its restaurant in Naples, Florida, are still going strong.
Justin Sutherland has been hired by Delaware North as the culinary consultant for Allianz Field, the home of professional soccer team, Minnesota United. The team fields about 20 home games, in addition to hosting concerts, etc. According to Mpls/St. Paul Magazine, Allianz will have 14 built-in brick-and-mortar concession stands, plus an additional 12 or so food carts and three VIP live-cooking areas.
Women Chefs & Restaurateurs is returning to the Twin Cities April 27-29 for its annual national conference. Minneapolis connection: Kim Bartmann of the Bartmann Group is board president emeritus and Carrie Summer, co-owner and chef of Chef Shack, is a board member.
Tim Webert has been hired by Restaurant Technologies, a Mendota-Heights-based provider of cooking oil management and exhaust cleaning services for restaurants, as senior vice president of marketing and business development.
Applicants can now apply for the Minnesota chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier’s Scholarship for Culinary Education, given to qualified female applicants pursuing full-time academic coursework in the fields of culinary arts, hospitality, nutrition, agriculture and related areas of study. Each scholarship is a minimum of $1,000. Spring Café, the newest of Matty O’Reilly’s restaurant group, has been sold to Lancer Hospitality, a national catering company. Located inside the Como Pavilion in St. Paul, the restaurant was previously Como Dockside. Lancer Catering services in Minnesota includes Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, the Minnesota Zoo, Keller Golf Course and the Science Museum.
