Monthly meeting

Kids Café

Perspectives Family Center: 3381 Gorham Ave., St. Louis Park, MN

Perspectives has a new a chef, and longtime volunteer Jeremiah Lanes, who has been extremely active in taking shifts at Kids Café, is taking a break. Help out preparing meals through this nutrition and education program for kids. Volunteers don’t have to be professional chefs, simply those who know how to cook and want to help the chapter. Though not necessary, volunteers are encouraged to try new and interesting dishes for the kids. The Minnesota Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier, a local nonprofit philanthropic organization of women leaders in the fields of food, fine beverage and hospitality, is accepting application for its micro-grant program, Dame It! Dollars.

Knowing that small amounts of money provided at the right time can have a large impact, these one-time grants aim to provide support to women in the field, including small business owners, food service employees. 

Grants can include but are not limited to:

Business promotion (website, promotional events, social media);

Equipment purchases;

Short-term classes including certification courses;

Industry conference fees;

Business expansion;

Professional development.

Dame It! Dollars Micro-Grants are offered on a competitive basis and normally run about $500. The amount of each grant may vary depending on the request and funds available. Grants may fully or only partially cover the expenses applied for. Grants are reviewed and awarded by a committee assessing the applicant’s goals, leadership qualities and perceived need.

Applications are now open and accepted on a rolling basis. Applicants will be notified within 3 months as to the status of their request.
