he Gnome, a new endeavor by Brian and Sarah Ingram and Justin Sutherland, is replacing the Happy Gnome, which recently closed in St. Paul’s Cathedral Hill area. An expanded patio area wraps around the building on one side to accommodate the former nice-to-have, now-necessary outdoor dining.
The trio is embarking on yet another joint project. This time they're taking over the recently vacated In Bloom space in the Keg and Case Market, also in St. Paul. The new restaurant which is slated to open in late August, is Elotes Woodfired Cantina, according to Mpls.St.Paul Magazine.
The slightly modified space will be multi-functional, including patio dining, takeout of grilled meats and salsas and a tequila and mezcal tasting area upstairs.
Rustica Bakery has opened in the Life Time complex at Southdale Center in Edina. Steve Horton who founded the concept before selling it to Greg Hoyt, co-founder of Dogwood Coffee, has returned to run it, according to the Star Tribune.
The original owners of It's Greek to Me in the Lynlake area of Minneapolis have taken back the restaurant after it closed. The Arambadjis family retained ownership of the building when they sold the business to Nicholas and Athena Karos in 2016, and when the couple closed the restaurant, the family decided to reopen it. The tweaked name is It’s Greek to Me Taverna E Parea. In addition to authentic Greek food, the restaurant is known for its serene patio.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Eastside Eat + Drink is flinging open the doors of its street-side bar for a new twist on a pop-up, La Pistola, a walk-up seafood and ham bar, patterned after the gastronomy of Spain. Chef Jamie Malone is behind the carefully curated menu.
Bebe Zito is the new brick-and-mortar spot for the former ice cream pop-up from co-owners Ben Spangler and Gabriella Grant. Spangler has made ice cream and other sweets for a number of restaurants and cafes, and had his hand in some of Milkjam Creamery’s flavors. He also competed on Food Network’s “King of Cones.”
Pyramid Pizza and Grill opened in the old Red’s Savoy location at 2329 Hennepin Ave. S, Minneapolis.
