Show Season: Upper Lakes Focuses on Extras for Customers
“We’re focused on you.” That’s the message Upper Lakes Foods sought to convey during its “Feed Your Focus” fall food show October 24, as the company continues to position itself as a resource beyond the traditional role of broadline food distributor.
“The aim is to help our customers focus on the aspects that will most impact their business,” said Mariah Berg, ULF’s creative services manager. For the 2017 fall show, that meant offering a range of “Focus” seminars, such as one on finance and another helping restaurant owners manage their online reviews. On the demonstration stage, the focus was versatility, with Chef Ryan Trinkofsky of Dexter Russell offering a knife skills presentation and Chef Jesse Cobb creating entrées with Joseph’s Gourmet Pasta.
Vendors kicked sampling into high gear, with everything from Curdtown’s white cheddar cheese curds to meats from J&B Group and Rancher’s Legacy, along with desserts galore from Rich’s.
Upper Lakes Foods, the company Larry Sorensen founded in 1967, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and is now run by his children, Susan Ryan, Scott Sorensen and Shawn Sorensen.
