Gavin Kaysen could become a McDonald’s franchisee and we’d all be breathlessly awaiting the opening of his next location. But fortunately, Kaysen is strictly high-end independent. The founder of such local treasures as Spoon and Stable and Bellecour (The Charlies Outstanding Restaurant for 2018), Kaysen is debuting Demi, a 20-seat restaurant that is as much about performance as about the food, February 15. With the reservation system opening February 4 at 10 a.m., expect to be put on hold.
The city of Brooklyn Park has announced the selection of D’Amico & Partners to manage food and event services at Edinburgh USA golf course. The current clubhouse restaurant, Girvan Grille, will be transformed into D’Amico’s newest venture, The Brooklyn, a comfortable, clubby American bistro for club members and the public. Girvan Grille closed on Dec. 26, 2018 and the renovated restaurant and clubhouse are poised to open in early spring.
Malcolm Yards Market in Southeast Minneapolis is on schedule to open in spring of 2020, according to the Pioneer Press. The food hall at 501 30th Avenue will have 10 food vendors, a central bar and dining space. Co-owner is Patricia Wall, who has partnered with Denver’s Ecletic Collective.
Market Barbecue, the 73-year-old restaurant in Minneapolis that has been garnering lots of news about its relocation, has officially opened its doors at 220 Lowry N.E. Minneapolis. The look is both new and old, thanks to the owners keeping some of the old fixtures and even rolls of unused carpet, according to the StarTribune.
Cargo, a bar/restaurant on the street floor of Target Center, has opened. in the space is tucked behind the escalators. The menu features $1 beers, street tacos, poke bowls and duck wings.
The Local, an Irish pub that’s part of the Cara Irish Pubs group, is taking over the location previously occupied by Cooper Pub and Restaurant in St. Louis Park’s West End. This will be its second location. The first location is at 10th Street and Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis.
