The owner of Gogi Bros. House, a Korean barbecue concept in Eden Prairie, just bought Burrito Loco, a full bar and grill in Dinkytown. John Park’s Gogi Bros started as a food truck before opening its brick-and-mortar location on City West Parkway.

 

A historic building in Northeast Minneapolis that houses seven restaurants, along with a pay parking lot with 192 spaces, was sold to Falcon Ridge Partners for $16.4 million, according to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. Restaurants in the building are Red’s Savoy Pizza, Chipotle, JL Beers, Jimmy John’s, Keegan’s Irish Pub, PinKU Japanese Street Food and New Bohemia Wurst. The price was $388 a square foot. 

 

Fourteen of the 100 People to Know are in our foodservice world. Amol Dixit, founder and CEO of Hot Indian Foods, was selected as one of Twin Cities Business magazine’s 100 People to Know in the emerging category for his multi-unit Indian food restaurant chain. Dixit, a former General Mills executive, added two new locations in 2018, one at Mall of America and a second in the Minneapolis skyway. Other honorees include Jennifer Pennington, CEO of Can Can Wonderland; Chris and Danielle Bjorling, owners of The Copper Hen; Ben Cattoor, founder/CEO of Foodsby; Leensa Ahmed, CEO of Green Garden Bakery; Matty O’Reilly, owner of Republic (etc). Ann Kim, co-owner of Vestalia Hospitality; Chef Gavin Kaysen, owner of Spoon and Stable and Bellecour; Lee Wallace, CEO of Peace Coffee; and Kim Bartmann, CEO of the Bartmann Group, were  selected in the Overachiever category. Jeff Crivello, CEO of Famous Dave’s was honored in the Make or Break Category, while Sergio Manancero, president of La Dona Brewing; Tom Hanson, owner of Duluth Grill; Nick Beste, CEO of Mighty Spark Food Co., were considered Pioneers.

 

Keith Funke was promoted to vice president of sales & customer care for Nor-Lake, manufacturer and supplier of a full line of commercial refrigeration equipment. In his new role, Funke will lead the development and execution of Nor-Lake’s commercial sales growth and new business opportunities. He reports directly to Kevin Fink, president of the Standex Refrigerated Solutions Group.
