ACF Chapter Meeting - April 25, Hennepin Tech, Brooklyn Park

Consider adding mentoring to your hiring and recruiting efforts.

The meeting’s focus was all about culinary students. In addition to recognizing the Hennepin Tech students preparing the dinner, it was a call for chef mentors to support the ProStart high school culinary programs. With 44 high schools throughout the state involving more than 3,200 students, there is a big demand for industry support through mentoring. There’s probably a participating high school near you. MMBA/MLBA Spring Conference April 30, Arrowwood Resort, Alexandria

The Minnesota Municipal Beverage Association and Minnesota Licensed Beverage Association joined forces for the first time to share more information between the private and public liquor establishments. There were management and marketing presentations from vendors, consultants and even the Brave New Workshop comedy group covering topics including Microsoft Office proficiency, working with millennials, developing managers, developing digitally, demographics, leadership and creativity.

Adam and the Serpent(s)

Though they are more accustomed to multi-legged and winged pests, Adam’s Pest Control received some local news coverage and kudos in recent weeks thanks to one of their tenacious technician crew’s digging into one metro homeowner’s snake infestation. Nearly 100 garter snakes were counted inside the home earlier this spring—yikes! After thousands of dollars went down the drain with another ineffectual pest service, Adam’s helped put the kibosh on the reptiles with an aggressive effort including trapping, identifying the source(s) and sealing off home entry points. Way to go, Adam’s!

 

As of April 17 ...

Industry veteran Paul Schroeder is joining Mark Paone and American Fish and Seafood as their new sales manager. Paul brings decades experience in food purveying to American Fish. “This is a great place” Paul began. “It’s the only federally inspected fish operation in the Midwest. And they have a great reputation for performing and delivering exactly as they tell the customer they will.” All the best on this new chapter, Paul!
