Join Hospitality Minnesota at Stars of the Future to support ProStart high school students in a fun, interactive event Sunday, November 11, from 3-5 p.m. at The Living Room at the W Hotel in Minneapolis. Students pair up with a local chef to prepare and serve small plate tastings. Each school offers a
different dish, featuring poultry, lamb, beef, seafood or pork, as well as vegetarian offerings and desserts. The Minnesota Beer Wholesalers Association presented Jason Gaebel and Kwame Anderson, employees of Breakthru Beverage Minnesota, with a Public Service Award at its annual meeting on September 14. Gaebel and Anderson spotted a suicidal man on an overpass of I-94 in St. Paul while driving their Coors Light beer truck on a route. “They stopped and successfully coaxed the man to climb back over a railing by using personal conversations and offers of food, money, and finally, beer,” the association press release said. The man was taken to the hospital.
The International Foodservice Distributors Association announced the winners of its annual Truck Driving Championship, which celebrates safety. Drivers from all over the country compete in categories ranging from written examinations to a driving obstacle course. Local winners include: 5-Axle (48-foot Tractor/Trailer) 1st Place: Mark Krueger with McLane Foodservice Distribution, Kiel, Wisconsin; and 2nd Place: Ray Carson with Reinhart Foodservice, La Crosse.
Tre Hardy, who spent seven years as the head chef for executives at 3M, will be joining chef/owner Susan Dunlop as chef de cuisine in the kitchen of Joan’s in the Park in St. Paul.
