Restaurant Openings




Graze Provisions and Libations in Minneapolis’ North Loop has opened seven restaurants in one fell swoop:  MidNord EmpanadasSoul BowlCarbon Coal Fired Pit BeefFish Bowl Poke, Honey & RyeFlagsmash, and Lu’s Sandwiches. See story on page 20 for more information. 

 

Solera by Travail, opened at 1930 Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis. The prolific chef and restaurant star Tim McKee, most recently of Octo Fishbar, joined the Travail team to open a prolonged pop-up, according to Eater, that will showcase the flavors of Spain and Morocco.  Several years ago, McKee was a partner in Solera, a restaurant that introduced tapas, in the building that now houses the Hennepin Theater Trust. 

 

A futuristic version of Dunkin’ (no longer boasting Donuts in its name) has opened in Rochester. Dunkin’, a mainstay on the East Coast, has had a hard time getting a foothold in the Midwest, so perhaps this “next-generation” 1,600-square-foot location will put them on the map. The unit is located at 2519 Commerce Drive.

 

Skyway Masala is serving Indian food for lunch in St. Paul’s Town Square (444 Cedar Street). The traditional Indian food has been adapted for traveling as wraps, salads or pizzas with naan bread as the crust. Platters are also available.  

 

If you’re looking for Mon Petit Cheri Bakery and Kitchen in Minneapolis’ Seward neighborhood where it served breakfast for four years, you need to point your car to Main Street in Stillwater, where you,ll find its new location at 310 Main Street South.  The café serves breakfast, lunch and brunch. 

 

Restoration Hardware has a new name and a new rooftop restaurant at the Galleria in Edina. RH Minneapolis opened at the end of September above two stories of luxury furniture and home accessories. Following in the footsteps of the brand’s hospitality experiences in Chicago, named one of Zagat’s “10 Sexiest Restaurants;” RH Minneapolis rooftop restaurant is year-round.

 

A newly renovated Metropolitan Ballroom & Clubhouse is reopening on Wayzata Boulevard in Golden Valley. D’Amico is the caterer.
