Reed Allen Evavold is part of the four-chef dance at Tenant, a great new dining experience in the old Piccolo location. I noticed “Hello” tattooed on his neck, and since I was fairly sure it wasn’t his name tag, I asked about it. The entire message is: “Hello only ends a good-bye.” He waved it off, it was a remnant of a darker time, he says, a place he’s no longer in thanks to Tenant. The tats on his arm told a bit more about him: a broken wishbone that he got when the Tenant team went to Chicago to check out the dining scene (he identifies with the larger piece of bone: “I feel like I’m the one winning”); a sprig of nasturtium, his favorite garnish; and an old-fashion TV with the message, “The sun don’t shine on your TV,” a reminder to go outside and enjoy the fresh air.
