The Wrap-up of This Year’s Toby Tournament

The 2017 Toby Tournament committee. Back row, left to right: Ann Lovcik, Pat Brion, Andrea Gustafson, Mark Doble, Ryan Smith and Dennis McGuire. Front row: Dan DeRoma, Karen Lamb, Chuck Knuth, Zach Weisman and Jeff Stafford. Not pictured are Greg DeMarco, Marty Olson and Gary Hjellming.

Equipment rep. and co-owner of Vader and Landgraf Inc. Toby Landgraf is remembered for his passion and commitment to education, and the event that bears his name continued that legacy August 14 during the 32nd annual Toby Tournament, hosted at Minnesota Valley Country Club.

This year’s winning teams tied for first place with a score of 13 under par. With their lower score on the back nine, Tracy Smith, Buddy Becker, Jared Botten and Kevin LaMere were named the official winners, while the team of Jeff Witt, Ron Tudisco, Jack Bardeen and Michael Jacobs were awarded “random place.”

Since its launch in 1986, The Toby Landgraf Foundation has raised more than $500,000 to provide scholarships to 300-plus Minnesota hospitality students. This year the committee added a new scholarship partner, the Minnesota License Beverage Association, which joins the University of Wisconsin Stout, American Culinary Federation Minneapolis Chef’s Chapter, Hospitality Minnesota Education Foundation and Upper Midwest Chapter of the Club Managers Association of America in benefiting from scholarship money raised through the tournament.
