ACF Honors Its Cream of the Crop

The ACF Minneapolis Chapter thoughtfully changed the time of its annual awards dinner on Sunday, January 21, to accommodate its guests who still had visions of a Vikings Super Bowl dancing in their heads. Later that night, however, as guests still full from the banquet spread witnessed the Vikings' humiliating loss to the Eagles, maybe the later time would have been preferable.

Bill Niemer shows off his prize as C.H.E.F. of the year.

The festive event was held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Plymouth and members of the chapter and students were pulling double duty, as more than one chef had to leave the kitchen to go on stage and accept his award.

Chef Chris Dwyer, who stepped back into the leadership role of the chapter, served as emcee and handed out a bevy of awards. Chef of the Year was awarded to Trent Anderson, executive chef at Medina Entertainment Center. The recipient of two awards and two chef coats was student Emily Pollock, who won Unsung Hero and one of three Chairman awards, plus scholarship money and Student Chef of the Year.

Other recognition included:

C.H.E.F. Award (or Chef, Hospitality and Educationally Award) went to Bill Niemer, owner of That Cooking School
