D’Amico Names New Chef at Lurcat in Minneapolis

Jordan Swiler is the new chef at Cafe and Bar Lurcat, a D'Amico restaurant in Minneapolis.

Café and Bar Lurcat has a new head chef in Jordan Swiler, replacing Adam King, who led the kitchen at the restaurant near Loring Park in Minneapolis for 14 years.

King recently informed D’Amico and Partners, which owns and operates Lurcat and several other restaurants in Minnesota and Florida, of plans to open his own restaurant in the Twin Cities west metro.

Swiler’s new role includes the rolling out of a new menu and format that subdivides listings into three sections: Traditions, which are Lurcat classic menu items that rarely change; Market, which changes twice yearly to highlight seasonal products and flavors; and Voyage, an all-new offering that changes every six to eight weeks and highlights cuisine from different global or U.S. regions. The current Voyage focus, Low Country, is inspired by South Carolina’s traditional southern cuisine

“Chef Jordan’s creativity, drive, and understanding of the property made him the perfect choice to lead the Lurcat team,” said Michael Smith, director of operations for D’Amico & Partners full-service restaurants. “He worked his way through our ranks to become a sous chef at this property. Then, we moved him down to Florida for the past two years to help us open D’Amico’s newest property, The Continental, an award-winning steakhouse in Naples where he was a sous chef. We are launching a new menu format at Lurcat in Minneapolis and re-vamping the cocktail list, so it’s a great time for a new chef to step in and make his mark in the Twin Cities.”

“When I was a sous chef here at Lurcat, Chef Adam King taught me how a run a full-service kitchen, how to move with speed and accuracy, and that a positive guest experience is priority,” said Swiler, who received a bachelor’s degree in food science and nutrition from the University of Missouri. “It’s truly an honor to be back now in this important leadership role for an excellent restaurant that everyone knows. My goal is to show people that Lurcat is a major part of the heartbeat of this city. Lurcat has its own soul, and I want to be able to add to it.”

D’Amico also announced a new role for Mike Mueller, who the company promoted to executive chef. Mueller will continue as the chef at Café and Bar Lurcat in Naples while also providing menu development and support for Lurcat chefs in Minneapolis and at Masa in Naples.
